NSF GRFP proposals due this week

BIT 579 participants:

I have been reviewing the peer feedback. We have a variety of topics using high-throughput approaches. I appreciate the thoughtful and constructive feedback you provided to your classmates. Read over the comments carefully. Follow these instructions to return to your submission and view the feedback and responses to the reading questions:

  • Think about the argument. Are you convincing the reader with an engaging lead-in on what you are proposing?
  • Do you identify a gap in knowledge that you will address?
  • Are you using headings and emphasis to provide structure (introduction, hypothesis, research with aims, broader impact, intellectual merit, references, for example)?
  • Do you have room for an image that visually summarizes your proposed project?
  • Are your references reliable and correctly cited?

Proofread as you prepare your submission due on Friday via Moodle. This is a graduate research proposal and should be convincing, have specific aims, scientific merit, and references. Propose a hypothesis and your rationale. Consider alternatives. Your research statement/proposal must include the use of high-throughput approaches. I provide feedback and a grade based on readability, incorporation of edits, and alignment with the NSF GRFP requirements. I will be critical but fair as my goal is for you to produce proposals that are based on research and incorporate the potential of high-throughput approaches.

I look forward to reading your proposals!
