Module 7 is available! Last week wrap-up, connections, and reflections.

You have worked diligently on projects, Top Hat questions, proposals, and now your portfolios. In this last week, we address the question:

What did we learn? How will we use HT approaches?  In this Module, we will review several of the high-throughput approaches we discussed. We will then reflect and share our thoughts on what we learned from the activities, research, and portfolio assignments. This Module is intentionally shorter than others so that participants focus on reflecting, reviewing, and sharing materials that have been created to explain high-throughput discovery science to broad audiences. I want you to focus on the question: How will you use HT approaches now? In the process, you will see how much you learned and all the connections you made in the last several weeks.

Upon successful completion of this Module, you will be able to:

  1. MO 7.1. Reflect and explain what you learned after conducting research on a topic for your high-throughput discovery science final portfolio (CO 1, 4, 5)
  2. MO 7.2. Critically analyze HTD resources to identify biases and gaps in knowledge (CO 6)
  3. MO 7.3. Produce and share resources using universal design for learning to share findings (CO 6).

I invite you to test yourself and practice “retrieval” to see how much you learned. What are the different high-throughput technologies we mentioned? HT screening, sequencing, microscopy… What are we missing? What type of studies did we discuss with the case studies and jove.com scenarios? Are particular areas, authors, or countries being overlooked? How can we minimize bias in the automation process and promote inclusion, equity, and diversity in the use of high-throughput discovery approaches?

Take on this last challenge by thinking beyond what we have discussed to make use of what you learned and apply it.

Work on your portfolios and share your thoughts in the discussion forum. I look forward to learning what you uncovered about high-throughput discovery science! Take care!
