Module 3

This week our third quest begins: Module 3:  How can we automate an assay for speed and reproducibility? In this quest, we will define microfluidicsscreening center, liquid handler, and virtual screening. We will compare and contrast the use of a liquid handler and manual pipetting in several situations. Our focus will be on the technology and software used to automate and analyze results from high-throughput approaches. This module ends with the second JoVE scenario we will analyze in the forum that is directly related to your group projects.

We have posted our third Mix Tape and attached it here. A short video is available on Moodle, and the slides are available both on our Moodle site and on Top Hat. Again, you will have a series of questions to respond to on Top Hat and a discussion forum based on our second JoVE critical thinking scenario. Please pay close attention to our Module Objectives and keep them in mind for our discussion forum.

This week your group project teams must meet again virtually at least once and submit a forum update and teamwork report. Please review the guidelines. BIT 579 students should begin researching a topic for their proposals.

Let’s begin our third quest!
